Guard change

I've made a small change to the clip system on Hedwigs Guards. What do you think?

  1. It looks nice, but I can't see how the clips are attached. Magic perhaps?

  2. It IS magic! Ok, no, really they are hooked shaped and just push onto the edge of the fender. I didn't push these all the way on, since this set doesn't belong to this bicycle.

  3. These look great, Amy. A very Victorian sort of detail, with the curls of the hook.

How firmly do they grip the fenders? do you feel confident that they will resist being pulled free if hit by coat tails or the like?

  4. Corey K - Thanks! They clip on quite tightly, and can be adjusted by squeezing together or bending apart, depending on the thickness of the fender. I've been using these clips with the guards on my Hercules for about a month now, and the only incident I've had where they came off was last week during the wind storm. A strong wind hit me from the side and ripped that guard off completely. Now, that set of guards has a lot more surface area than this set pictured, so it really caught the wind. Clothing, coats and capes have not been a problem.

  5. Corey k - Actually, my husband just reminded me that I had binder clips on that guard at the time of the wind. Those got ripped clean off. I had just sacrificed my set of clips to go with a set of guards that I sold since my order of clips hadn't arrived yet.
